An AvGeeks Dream

Every AvGeek has a dream and I think we all share the dream to fly on a private plane. I finally got to check that off the list flying with a small company, Southern Jet, based out of Boca Raton Florida. I felt incredibly lucky to not only be flying privately but to watch my favourite college football team, the University of Notre Damn, play in the Cotton Bowl.

Our trip started at Atlantic Aviation where we were welcomed by two friendly pilots who took us through the details of the trip and the aircraft we would be flying on. We climbed on board their Lear 60 that can seat up to 7 passengers. This 7 seater also had wifi on board which was a bonus. After being regaled with all the details about the aircraft it was time to close up the cabin door and takeoff for Arlington. Something I really enjoyed about Southern Jet was passengers have the ability to call ahead and request what they would like to eat or drink on the flight. On this flight we enjoyed some perfect ham and cheese sandwiches along with a nice cold cooler of bud light.

Before the flight I was chatting with the captain about my passion for aviation. After we finished up with lunch the captain came back and invited me up into the cockpit. I was ecstatic. He explained how each part of the cockpit functioned and encouraged me to take pictures and video. As you can imagine, I was very interested in everything he had to say. The best part might have been when I watched an American Airlines A320 fly right over us. After visiting the cockpit it was almost time for final approach so I made my way back to my seat. I must say if you're a football fan you would love the approach into Arlington as you fly right over cowboys stadium.

I had a fantastic experience with Southern Jet. I thought from the moment we arrived at the airport in Boca Raton that they were nothing but friendly and accommodating. I would definitely give Southern Jet a 10 out of 10.
