About Me
My name is Jack and I’m an aviation photographer in love with the sky.
With my camera, I capture everything associated with your flight from scenes at the gate, to views inside a pilot’s cockpit, to shots of the terminal from above. I live my best life while sailing above the clouds in the moments between takeoff and landing. Of course, I spend much of my time shooting planes themselves. A born-and-raised Torontonian, YYZ is my second home. I’m the guy who spends every other day at the edge of the runway with my camera.
There’s a quote that goes “To most people, the sky is the limit. To those who love aviation, the sky is home.” In my case, those words are accurate. I log every single one of my flights. To date, I have been to 50 airports and on 163 flights. When I’m not flying, I’m probably thinking about it.
My love for aviation started when I was a kid. I suffered from seizures and when I was five years old, I underwent my first of three brain surgeries. During my recovery, the activities in which I could participate were limited. My mom and dad, frequent flyers, came up with the idea of plane spotting. Some of my earliest memories are of us pulling over to the side of the road. I would then go on my dad’s shoulders or on the roof of our car and wait for airplanes to emerge. When they did, I was amazed at their size and proximity to the ground. That’s where my passion started.
During those years, I built sprawling toy terminals in the living room (sorry Mom!). Today, I’ll be up at dawn if I have a flight. I spend my time photographing planes and planning my next shoots. I find every flight fascinating whether it’s a trip on a tiny 12-seater plane to Muskoka or an adventure from a first class seat as I’m flying above London’s Big Ben. I even like turbulence.
My passion for aviation is an incredible thing that came from a difficult time in my life and I shoot despite the disability I have in my arm. The early days of plane spotting led me to discover a whole new world. I hope that through my lense, I can show you the beauty of that world and all things aviation.
