Swiss Airlines Won Me Over With Their Delicious Chocolate

Like any aviation geek, I love to fly. (As if I had to tell you.) When I check in to a flight with a new airline though, that’s when I get really excited. Recently I found myself in Dusseldorf and I was heading on to Zurich. I was making the trip with Swiss Airlines (A first for me!) and I arrived at the airport looking forward to my travels on their Airbus A320.

When I got to the airport, I showed up curious about the differences between European and North Americans. It would be interesting, I thought, to see how they do things differently across the pond. The answer to that question started with boarding.

Instead of having gate agents scan boarding passes, they had machines set up so everyone could scan their pass themselves. Gate agents were there in case anyone had problems but generally, it went seamlessly. The whole boarding process was so fast that we were all on the aircraft in no time.

Once on board, I started looking at all the seats to see what they looked like. I noticed that none of them had TVs attached to the back. Honestly, I was a little surprised. Instead, they had a handful of TVs for the entire plane. Displayed on them was information about the flight.

We were ready for takeoff and in no time, the plane was up above the clouds. The crew was incredibly friendly and they came around offering Swiss chocolate and drinks. Swiss chocolate, in my view, is the perfect touch and I think it’s even safe to say that Swiss Airlines has the best Swiss chocolate in the sky.

Shortly after, we were just about ready to touch down in Zurich. Once we were wheels down, I spotted the observation deck. This one is a must-visit for aviation geeks and plane spotters alike.

Overall, I enjoyed my first flight with Swiss Airlines. I loved seeing how cultures operate differently and if you get the chance, I’d say you should book a flight with them! I mean, that Swiss chocolate alone should have you booking already…
