All Smiles With Westjet
Hello AvGeeks today I am flying headed to Montreal and l’ll be flying with Westjet Encore on their Bombardier Dash 8 Q400. But let me tell you about Westjet’s check in process which is similar to most airlines where you can check in online which is what I did without a problem. What really impressed me was the following morning I received a phone call and an email letting me know that my flight had been cancelled and so I went into a panic for a second but then after listening to the rest of the messages westjet had already rebooked me on the next flight later that and also upgraded my seat from the last row to row 9
After a quick ride on the Union Pearson Express I headed to terminal three where westjet is based out of and when I walked in I was through security in under five minutes which meant I had plenty of time to get something to grab something to eat or at least I thought when I got through there were not a lot of options since in door dining was not allowed because of COVID-19 so I settled for a bag a chips and Gatorade I then headed over to the gate and did some pre flight spotting I was lucky enough to watch the KLM 787 push back right as I got there.
Shortly after that our aircraft arrived. The crew moved quickly to board the plane and they were incredibly friendly and I could tell they were smiling even with their masks on. Unfortunately, during boarding there was an altercation with a passenger who refused to wear a mask. The WestJet staff handled the situation professionally and I was really impressed - I imagine it’s not easy.
We were on a small plane which was two seats on either side of the aisle. Due to COVID, each passenger had two seats to themselves. Having looked up the plane ahead of time, I knew not to expect any entertainment system or WiFi. I also figured refreshments would be limited but we were still given a bottle of water and cookies.
It was dark and damp as we approached Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport but Montreal was completely lit up and it was a smooth landing.
Overall, the trip was efficient, easy and the team at WestJet made it comfortable for all the passengers onboard.
If you find yourself in Montreal, be sure to check out the plane spotting spot near the airport at Saint-François Park.
